How to sell your boat - Presentation is very important, buyers do not like seeing a messy or untidy boat, especially full of the sellers personal items all over the boat. This perception makes buyers feel like the vessel has not been cared for....
- Strong service histories makes buyers feel more secure. Ensure you have invoice copies or payment receipts on hand to verify your service history....
- Our experience shows that typically, buyers may not negotiate for a discount as hard, if they know that the boat is mechanically perfect and that the boat has no surprises (or defects). A qualified surveyor's report gives a very good credibility.
Selling with clear-title - Before the sales process begins, we will ask you for full disclosure of all finance agreements in place, that cover a third parties financial interest in the vessel (eg: Bank, Finance Company, Business or an Individual). To confirm the vessel will be sold to any future purchaser with clear title, we ask for a statutory declaration to be submitted asap.
- Should your boat have monies owning to any 3rd party, we ask for a written confirmation of the payout figures plus all contract numbers and banking details. It is our role to ensure that all interested parties are paid out (in full) at the time of settlement.
- Settlement will not take place until this is confirmed and that clear funds are made available in the event of a payout shortfall or deficit. All surplus funds will be credited to the lawful boat owner.
This above process is a legal requirement of our company. Failure to disclose may result in litigation and imprisonment. Fee Structure:Our fee for the sale of your boat (sales commission) is in-line with most Greek Yacht brokers based and calculated on the actual selling price. We only receive our agreed sales commission, once we sell your boat for the final price that you have authorized us to sell and after you have accepted it. Rate: Either a Persentage (%) of the actual sales value or a Flat fee. The Rate will be agreed on the day of signing the Offer to sell the Boat. All advertising (Internet & Magazines) is paid by us as part of our service which also includes the organizing of the transfer registration. If extra or special advertising campaign required then the cost will be negotiated. Other services: We can take care of the boat while you are away. We can also supervise any mechanical or maintenance work that the boat might require. Depending on the involvement a Fee may be charged. To start the sales process, We encourage you to read, print and sign our Engagement of Agent documentation in pdf format.
This legal document outlines our terms and conditions of Engagement and confirms in writing our fee for service (commission) structure which is applicable to the sale of your specific vessel.
This document can only be completed by the actual vessel owner (or Power Of Attorney) and co-signed by a representative of Corfu Boat Sales.
